Making a More Intimate Seating Arrangement

Arranging people at tables can be daunting. By clustering people who already know each other together your guests are guaranteed to feel more connected to the event. In fact, according to Zola, mixing friend groups or pairing similar interests can increase guest interaction by up to 40%.

In terms of seating options, currently you’ll see two types of table setups: round tables or family style long tables. Family style tables add a layer of closeness because it feels like a dinner table. To create an intimate feel for round tables, seat no more than eight people at a table together. When you limit the number of people at a table there are more tables that will need to be set up to accommodate guests. If more tables are needed there will be less empty space within your venue.

Create A Lounge Space

There is always an opportunity to fill empty spaces. One of the most inviting ways to fill your reception space is to create an indoor lounge area for guests. A lounge area can be an assortment of couches or chairs faced toward each other that encourage guests to sit and talk with each other. This space creates a more intimate experience for every guest.

Lounge spaces also allow for additional opportunities to create wow moments for your guests, and also play into your wedding colors and aesthetic. Which again, will help fill space and create a more inviting and memorable guest experience.

Customize Your Venue’s Lighting

Bright and harsh lighting can really bring down the aesthetic of an event. Soft lighting is more welcoming and relaxing. The soft lighting will set the tone for the evening letting your guests know that this is a more intimate setting.

Here are some ways that you can create more soft lighting in your event space:

  • Placing Candles on Each Table
  • Opting for Amber Lightbulbs rather than White
  • Hanging String Lights around the space
  • Considering dimming the lights in your event space if they have this option
